The painter Pia Brix-Thomsen is neither particularly Nordic by looks nor in her art. She is like a gipsy – a citizen of the world, who with great passion becomes absorbed and paints vigorous sonorous canvases, which in between glow like fire. From the very beginning a painterly primitive force has flowed from Pia’s works, from every single composition, living in close harmony with the dialog of light and colour.
Pia Brix-Thomsen’s works can be seen and experienced as pure paintings living their own lives as small independent personalities with their own story. They are also painterly stories about time here and now, the far too evanescent time that vanishes before we can grasp the moment. Pia Brix-Thomsen embraces time with her art, which can very well take the spectator’s breath away when the red colour of lifeblood asks the golden sun to dance. Or when colours meet in more subdued intensity and let light live almost spiritually and religiously on the canvas, so breath taking and emotional that the mind resorts to meditation and absorption. Experience the silence and joy of a painter, who by colours can narrate from the land of light.Journalist Vibeke Kruse, reviewer of Art and Culture at Vejle Amts Folkeblad
