’In the work Laven Collection of Exotic Objects Petersen asks the inhabitants of Laven on a temporary loan of an object in their possession, which they find exotic. Through this loan a collection will be created and presented in the project space bull mengers, who initiated the exhibition.
The involvement of the inhabitants in the current context is a recurring approach used in the relational art that Petersen works with. The current work uses an anthropological approach to describe the demographics and the narratives at the place.
As the items are returned to the contributors after the exhibition, the collection will gain new meaning back in the various homes.
Here, as in Petersen’s earlier work, the final piece depends on the contributing parts. Although the work is substantially the same, it has different potential configurations, depending on the contributions. The possibility of interrelational influence, along with a poetic insistence to relate to the surroundings is characteristic of Petersen’s production.’

‘In the project I hope to highlight the diversity inherent in our everyday conceptual world and how we implement it in the spaces we create around us.
The work stems from an interest in the demographic structure of a large part of the country’s smaller towns and villages and for what we find to be exotic.’
