Jakob Jensen employs various media (installation, video, photography, sculpture, sound, site-specific and public intervention). The fact that humans always start changing the appearance and functions of everything around them is in focus. Natural phenomena are compared with constructed, as if holding up a mirror. Both in relation to private, public, indoor and outdoor spaces, images of nature becomes a common denominator as a symbol, in referring to human conditions and stories. A text THE LUXURY OF DIRT! written in dirt on the shower wall of a football club, big mirrors floating on the water below a bridge, a video camera trying to autofocus on stars of the night sky, photos of nothing looking like huge landscapes and how much condensed fog fits into a plastic bucket?…..Poetic and ironic images of geographic and scientific confusion asks the question; Does what we see compare with what we are looking at? And what are we looking for? Not understanding is the worst, it causes insecurity and confusion. It seems that if we cannot understand what we see, we just see something that we understand, transforming it through imagination. Living in Denmark and Berlin.
