The book was acquired by the artist’s mother in 1997 and given as a gift to the artist the same year.
The book on display is a replacement, purchased this year in an antique bookstore. The copy is of the same edition and year as the original copy of the artist.

The three copies carry visible marks from being copied, as well as signs of damage from being stabled to the wall of the artist’s studio for several years.

The beach cloth used to belong to the artist’s mother, who wore it both as a light dress in the summertime and used it as a blanket, when the family went to the beach. The artist remembers her fascination with this article of clothing and her desire to possess it herself.

Purchased by the artist’s mother in the year of publication, lent to the artist in 1991.
The book is a survey of the history of philosophy from antiquity to the year of publication. It carries visible signs of use in the form of handwritten remarks and underlinings from various types of pens, including ballpoint in the colours blue, red and black.
