The animation is Kirstens contribution to the collaborative curated project Face a Face.
3 Danish and 3 Senegalese artists have worked together in teams, during a residency at the National Workshops for Arts end Crafts, Copenhagen and in residency in Joal and Dakar, Senegal.“Travelling” was shown together with Niang Ibrahimas animation and called “Travelling / Touki”.
The works created have been exhibited at the Off Dak’art /Dakar Biennial, Dakar, senegal, and at Odd fellow Palace, Copenhagen.

The animation deals with the idea of the Other, the preconceived ideas we all hold about each other.It blends fictionary characters and content with historical and personal content.
Two characters, a 1950ś stewardesse meets a senegalese soldier from the first world war (senegalese tiralleur), and travel through modern commuting spaces, planes and the metro,. The idea of using the portable bluscreen as a space, where different backgrounds meet, is formed within the characters. Kirsten the takes this idea to Senegal, and meets people who help her carry out this idea of a portable bluescreen, to be taken to different out doors public places, and serve as a place to work, perform and talk.
